 AdSubtract
Blocking Email and Messenger Service pop ups.

AdSubtract will only block Internet (browser based) ads, it does not block Spam e-mail or Windows® "Messenger Service" pop-ups. Instructions to block Messenger Service pop-ups are below. We have a product called Spam Subtract that will block spam e-mail. Information about purchasing Spam Subtract can be found at: http://www.valusoft.com/navigation/home-office.html

You can follow the instructions below, or you can download a free utility called MessageSubtract. It is offered by InterMute, the developer of AdSubtract, to block Messenger Service pop-ups. These ads affect Windows NT4/XP/2000 users only. It is a small download (206 k) and is available at http://www.messagesubtract.com

If you are receiving unwanted pop up boxes with "Messenger Service" in the title bar, disable the Windows Messenger Services. NOTE: This will not disable your instant message program such as ICQ, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo Instant Messenger, etc.

In their factory configured settings, Microsoft Windows operating systems (98, ME, XP, 2000, NT) allows anyone on the internet to send pop up Windows to your screen. To remove the ability for anyone send pop up messages to your computer, you can disable the Windows "Messenger Service".
