The lower right corner has an icon of a hunter. It designates the position the hunter is currently in - Standing, Crouched or Prone. You move faster in more upright positions, but you also make more noise and are easier to see to the animals. You also will find that your aim is much improved by being in a prone position.
You can hunt in 1ST person view or 3RD person view. 3RD person view is when you see yourself from a little ways behind your body. This allows you to see your self crawling or running, and also gives you a bit more flexibility in how much of the environment you see. It may, however, be a bit harder to see tracks or trails since you are farther away from the ground. If you use a weapon or other item, you will be automatically pulled into 1ST person view for better usage of those items. Be sure to look at the 3RD person control keys in the Options menu, because you can do so very cool camera rotations while in 3RD person which can create some great visuals and screenshots! Definitely check out the Take Trophy Picture feature, which allows you to take great shots crouched near your downed trophy!
